Explore Troodos

The Troodos Hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Cyprus, just 5 km from the highest peak in the Troodos Range, the summit of Mount Olympus. Just a few kilometres from the hotel you will find wonderful hiking, cycling and jeep trails which are ideal for exploring the geology of the Troodos GeoPark where the hotel is situated. These trails give you a perfect opportunity to really get up close and experience the natural environment surrounding the Troodos Hotel.
We have an Info Centre in our hotel which will give you any information or advice you might need about the best places to visit on your excursions and we can provide you with transportation to and from specific destinations.

The Environmental Centre

The Environmental Education Centre is 200 m west of Troodos Square. The aim of the Centre is to raise awareness of the importance and uniqueness of the park by providing a range of exhibitions and services for visitors. It also aims to let visitors know about the facilities offered in the park and about various environmental issues. It is open every day with standard opening hours and there is a small entry charge. It includes an exhibition hall, a room for video showings and lectures and small shop. Outside the centre there is a circular botanical and geological trail.

Troodos Square combines the charm of a picturesque, traditional country square with the facilities offered by a tourist destination. It has two cafes which also operate as restaurants and there are 8 kiosks selling souvenirs and traditional products from the area (grapes, nuts etc).

The square also has a park for children's entertainment.

If the term "mountain biking" makes you think of exhausting uphill routes, forget it! The reality of cycling routes in the Troodos is very different ... The network of cycling routes in the Troodos is well known for following roads and pathways which have a unique natural beauty and are also very easy. Like everything else on Aphrodite's island, cycling is an experience that you will love. There are no two points in this natural, 57 km long circuit where the altitude varies by more than 400 metres.

The Cyprus Ski Club has 3 ski lifts and one chair lift, all on the summit of Mount Olympus (Chionistra). These lifts are the starting points for 8 runs for skiers of all abilities: for beginners and intermediate level but also for the "masters" of the sport.

Cyprus is a deeply religious island with many monasteries which are worth seeking out and visiting. Some of the most interesting of these are in the Troodos and you can reach them by car as they are a relatively short drive from our hotel.

Churches of UNESCO

In the mountains of Troodos, in the central part of the island, some of the most important monuments in the history of Byzantine painting are located. They are painted churches preserved to our days, fine specimens of the various trends of Byzantine and post-Byzantine monumental painting from the 11th to the 19th century. Ten of these churches have so far been included in the list of World Culrural Heritage of UNESCO. All of them are located in the mountain region of Troodos.
